Governance & Management

The London School of Social Enterprise and Sustainable Economics has a clear governance structure that comprises both Trustees, and Councils which include both officers of the School and lay members.

Corporation Officers

The legal registered officers of the London School of Social Enterprise and Sustainable Economics is a board of trustees known as the Corporation, which has functioned since the Institution was incorporated. Corporation Members include distinguished leaders in the society, industry, education, and public service. It is responsible for the school’s finances and property.

Governing Council

The Governing Council is the strategic management and supervisory body of the London School of Social Enterprise and Sustainable Economics (LSSE). Basing itself on the strategic objectives set by the Corporation Officers as well as on its own strategic planning. It supervises the Academic Council and is responsible for preparing and implementing legislation governing the LSSE Community. It appoints the School’s Dean, Directors, Treasurer and Secretary and make recommendations for the awarding of fellowships, scholarships, bursaries, prizes, or other awards with support from Academic Council.

Academic Council

Chaired by the Academic Chairman, the Academic Council consists of the Institution’s senior leaders plus the directors of the faculties. It meets regularly during the academic year to confer on matters of Institution policy and academic matters. To design and develop programmes of study; To make recommendations on programmes for the development of research; To make recommendations relating to the selection, admission, retention and exclusion of students generally; To propose the form and contents of statutes to be made relating to the academic affairs of the LSSE, including the conduct of examinations, the determination of examination results, the procedures for appeals by students relating to the results of such examinations and the evaluation of academic progress; To make general arrangements for tutorial or other academic counselling; To perform any other functions, not in conflict with other bodies, which may be delegated to it by the Governing Council.
