Lecturer's Profile

Ajuruchukwu Obi is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa. Prof Obi holds the BSc (Agric Economics), MSc (Agric Economics), MA (Economic Policy Management), MA (Human Rights Law), Certificate in Labour Law and PhD (Agricultural Economics) obtained from the University of Nigeria, McGill University, Canada, University of Fort Hare, and University of the Free State, South Africa. He taught Agricultural Development Policy and Planning at the University of Nigeria before joining the United Nations system, working in Nigeria, Switzerland (Geneva), and Lesotho, with short-term assignments across sub-Saharan Africa. He is the Book Review Editor for the International Journal of Agricultural Management and Managing Editor (Africa Region) for the International Food and Agribusiness Management Review.
From 2010, Prof Obi led a project on capacity strengthening in teaching and facilitated experiential collective innovation in the South African higher education system with funding from the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC). His research interests span collective innovation, land, labour and resource economics, technology adoption, partnerships, and strategic alliance, institutions, and markets.
