The course is suitable for both existing teachers, and student teachers.The LSSE believes in inclusion and equality, hence, there are no stringent entry requirements for keen students who wish to attain the ‘Diploma in English & Cultural Education.’ All that the LSSE requires, is for candidates to have an acceptable standard of English language and grammar; and to be genuinely interested in teaching and understanding the values of African culture.Teaching English as a second language (ESL), is an important role for educators. This is due to the fact that ESL teachers not only help bridge the language barrier; in many cases, they serve as cultural mentors to their students; thus, helping them manoeuvre the many cultural nuances and differences that spring up in a new country. The Teaching English as a Foreign Language Course is a 120-hour training course for teachers of English as a Foreign Language.It is suitable for existing teachers as well as student teachers. All we ask is that you have a good level of English and a good knowledge of grammar. If you think you may need to top up your English skills, please take our English course at level C2 first. This will provide you with the required English language skills.
